Brass is an alloy of copper + zinc & naturally develops a warm patina over time. This is normal and adds character, but if you prefer a brighter shine, it’s safe to clean with mild acids and gentle abrasives.

Lemon + Baking Soda Paste - Lemon’s citric acid dissolves oxidation, and baking soda adds mild abrasion.
Mix a small amount of lemon juice with baking soda into a soft paste.
Rub gently with fingers or a soft cloth.
Rinse thoroughly with warm water.
Dry completely.
OR
Vinegar + Salt Solution - Vinegar dissolves tarnish, and salt accelerates the cleaning reaction.

Sterling silver is an alloy made from 92.5% pure silver and 7.5% copper, and like all precious metals, it naturally reacts with air, moisture, and skin chemistry over time. This gentle oxidation creates a soft tarnish on the surface, which is normal and expected. If you prefer a brighter finish, silver can be safely restored using non-abrasive methods that lift tarnish without damaging the metal or removing material.

Wear it often, natural skin oils help slow tarnish.
Avoid chlorine, cosmetics, and heavy perspiration.
Store in an airtight pouch when not in use.

Baking Soda + Aluminium Foil Ion Exchange - This is an ion-transfer reaction. The tarnish (silver sulfide) bonds with aluminum and lifts off the silver.
Line a bowl with aluminium foil (shiny side up).
Add very hot water + 1 tablespoon baking soda + pinch of salt.
Place silver directly on the foil.
Let sit 5–10 minutes.
Rinse and dry thoroughly.
OR
Mild Soap + Polishing Cloth - Soap removes dirt/oils; polishing cloth removes tarnish safely without abrasion.
Wash gently in warm water with mild dish soap.
Dry completely.
Use a silver polishing cloth to restore shine.

Proper storage extends the life of your pieces:
Keep each item in a soft pouch - like the one we provide you with - or a lined box.
Store in a cool, dry place, away from humidity.
Do not store brass and silver together — metals can react and tarnish faster.
Avoid leaving pieces in the bathroom or in direct sunlight.
For long-term storage, use airtight bags to slow oxidation.
